How to choose the best Permanent Makeup training provider.

Welcome to my post on choosing the best Permanent Makeup training provider for your career.

If you have landed here, I assume you are in the process of doing your research to find the best Permanent Makeup training provider. An excellent choice for a career and worth reading on if you want to have some key tips to consider whilst you do your research before you enter the world of Permanent Cosmetics.

Can I suggest you also think about it being the ‘right’ training provider as well as best for you? The training company needs to align with your needs and and how you want to learn. No one trainer teaches the same. You have a few things to consider like the trainer who is going to teach you.

You will come across many training providers and probably become overwhelmed at the choice. Some will be big companies with great marketing, selling the perfect dream with classrooms full of learners, and there are many good ones out there. Others will vary from the new quick pop up trainer with minimal experience in the industry or a quick money making machine to the more personal learning experience and attention with a small number of learners on each course, allow for maximum skill learning with your digital machine or manual method Microblading! Which one appeals to you? Maybe all at this point!

I would recommend you narrow it down to five then use my checklist to narrow it further to two to three. Have in mind exactly what it is you expect from a training provider then you can narrow it to just one. Do not forget to speak to these companies or individual trainer as part of this early research. Have all your questions ready and note down the answers. Did the answers give off any positives or negatives?

A little about why I believe my checklist could be helpful to you. I have been teaching for over 26 years on skin and business marketing. I guess I am a well-seasoned trainer and artist.   For the last 14 years focusing entirely on training learners to become permanent cosmetics artists or aesthetic practitioners with accredited and worldwide recognised qualifications such as VTCT Level 4 qualifications. These are available at my VTCT Accredited training academy in Luton, Bedfordshire.

I spend each week teaching and also back to back in clinic working on clients providing the type of treatments you are probably interested in learning – such as permanent eyebrows, eyeliner, lips, areola, dermal fillers, skin peels and more.  So, I know what I am talking about when it comes to choosing the best and right training provider.

Before I hand over to the check list let me tell you something.  I hear each week from people that had trained elsewhere, they thought it was the best training provider, it looked like it ticked all the boxes (what are your boxes?) and then to find out the training was mediocre or bad, large classrooms of learners, not enough attention, had to share models, the machine in kit was cheap as chips and they left with minimal support.

This is why I am so pleased you landed here. Not just because I would love you to put us on your shortlist but also to stop you making the wrong choice. The industry is full of providers that tarnish it with poor skills training creating badly trained artists. I do not want that to happen to you. You should leave your training ready to shine.

Be sure to use the checklist for tips on how to find the best Permanent Makeup training provider and if it helped you do drop me a message on Facebook or Instagram. It’s good to know my time creating this for you had a positive impact.

  1. Course content – what is included in the content,  what treatment areas will you learn, how comprehensive is the theory and practical’s, is there a learning framework from prestudy, content, case study period, support, assessment. Get specifics. Clarify if unsure.
  2. The trainer – how long have they been in the industry, do they still work on clients, do they keep their skills up to date, view their work and social media posts, what is their style of teaching,  can they teach learners with different needs, i.e. more visual, dyslexic.
  3. What qualifications will be attained. Accredited or awarding body qualification such as VTCT.
  4. Is the course insurable and more important are you covered to perform case study models before full qualification? Very important.
  5. Is equipment and kit included in the training and is there the option to just pay for training. Quality is key when starting out!
  6. Post course what type of technical support is provided, when, how and how long for? Very important as this is key to your progress during case study time.
  7. View reviews and testimonials on all platforms if possible. 4-5 star is an excellent start. Still do your check list to qualify that number. Ask to speak with a few past students, one a few years on and another more recent.
  8. Location is important for some if you want the provider to be near then make sure you set a locality when online searching. However, I would suggest not to narrow it down if you are open to travelling to get the right and best training in permanent makeup.  In my early years of being a permanent makeup artist, I have travelled in the UK and abroad to further my skills from then leading mentors.
  9. Price is relative to the service you receive in most cases. If you pay cheap you must expect a cheaper machine. less training days, mediocre manuals and minimal support in place.  Ask yourself why?  A good trainer or training company knows their worth and will charge accordingly. They will have put the investment and leg work in over the years to get to their level.  Pay mid to high most of your boxes should be ticked. Again do you due diligence research. In some cases, a training provider will have various course packages at a saving cost. This also depends on whether you want to tag on say medical tattooing to your beginners’ course.
  10. Have you thought about how you are going to build your business? What marketing is included to hit the ground running post training? This is paramount to launching any business and we provide options on this with our training from pdf’s, marketing module in manual, join our marketing and social media membership or 121 coaching with me Tracy Fensome or an online course.

I do hope you find this of help. My disclaimer to this post is my options have been gained from attending different training experiences and also witnessing the training being churned out by some providers.

If you would like to explore these further or have any questions you are welcome to book a telephone call, email or an online zoom call with me.  This should always be an option provided by a training provider. You then have a voice or face to speak with.
