Future-Proof Your Career in Permanent Makeup with Fast Track Conversion

Where Signature Academy Supports the Industry.

At Signature Academy, founded by industry expert of 25 years, Tracy Fensome, we have been supporting beauty, permanent makeup, and microblading professionals since 2012 and delivering Level 4 qualifications since 2016.

Our private, VTCT accredited academy has is highly regarded for quality and support and helped hundreds of professionals gain CPD and formal recognition for their skills, positioning them for compliance, confidence, and continued business success. With more councils (including parts of London) now pausing permanent makeup treatments until artists obtain a regulated Ofqual Level 4 qualification, this pathway offers both protection and opportunity as licensing tightens nationwide, predicted by end of 2026. Time is of the essence to review certifications and explore appropriate qualifications so your business and insurance will not be affected.

To begin the process, please get in touch with us for an initial discussion about your previous training and skill level. We’ll also review your recent artwork to ensure it aligns with the prerequisites required for level 4 qualification. We can guide you through the process in greater detail.

HOW TO CONVERT TO VTCT LEVEL 4

Get in touch so we can have a chat about your previous UK training and your skill level. We will need to see your most recent artwork to ensure it meets the prerequisite as a direct conversion. Note. this is not a training course, no skills training takes place. If you had good thorough training previously all modules should have been covered and that will be demonstrative in your knowledge and skills.

If your standard of previous training does not meet the VTCT requirements, do not worry we can provide additional skill gap training (costs subject to the skills gaps identified). 90% of the artists we have converted were trained to a good standard by their original training provider and they completed our conversion programme within a short period.

Once registered we will take you through the process of compiling your VTCT portfolio of your work, complete and assignment and arrange for your practical assessments at Signature Academy in Luton, Bedfordshire.

On assessment day you will be required to bring your own equipment, consumables, and model for the practical assessments related to the type of VTCT Level 4 skill.

This conversion is ideal for:

• Permanent makeup and microblading artists with accredited or CPD certificates (subject to quality of original course content and proof of insurance)

• Consistently working with clients for 12+ months and can demonstrate their skills, knowledge and expertise

• Artists ready to upgrade to a regulated VTCT Level 4 qualification and complete the process within 12 weeks of enrolment

You can convert into the following qualifications based on your experience and goals:

  • VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Micropigmentation (All areas)
  • VTCT Level 4 Award in Eyebrow Micropigmentation Techniques
  • VTCT Level 4 Award in Eyelid Micropigmentation Techniques
  • VTCT Level 4 Award in Lip Micropigmentation Techniques
  • VTCT Level 4 Award in Enhancing Eyebrows with Microblading Techniques

As this is an assessment-based pathway if we identify gaps in your knowledge or practical ability, we’ll recommend focused skill gap training with us so you can move forward with your conversion confidently.

However, if it is evident from our initial communication that there is a considerable amount of skill and knowledge gaps we will suggest further training with us to get you to a level for conversion. (Additional training starts from £500.)

To qualify for conversion, you must be able to demonstrate:

• Solid knowledge in your chosen skill, consultation and aftercare, pigment and needle selection, health & safety, and anatomy & physiology • An up-to-date infection control certificate and active insurance • Evidence of consistent client work over the past 12 months.

A portfolio of recent work aligned with VTCT treatment ranges. You will need to collate before and after photos a minimum of:

✅ 8 brows (hair stroke and powder finish)
✅ 2 eyeliners (top & bottom)

• Completion of a VTCT assignment and a final attendance at a practical assessment day with your own models

WHAT CAN THIS QUALIFICATION LEAD TO?

A level 4 VTCT qualification provides many opportunities whether employed or freelance. Many permanent makeup artists tend to be freelance and either create a business at one location or to visit other salons and clinics and provide this specialist treatment on a monthly visit.

Further training in advanced permanent makeup and medical tattooing can lead to working with Doctors and Surgeons. This career is rewarding, challenging and financially beneficial.
